RAs and Proposal Submission Changes at ORSP
You will be seeing some new names and faces among the Research Administrators at ORSP. We are sorry to announce that Sona Kumar and Monica Alvillar, two of our Senior Research Administrators, will be leaving ORSP to tackle new positions elsewhere. We have already begun hiring replacements. However, while this transition is underway, we need to make some changes to our existing procedures for grant submissions. Please see the following important changes:
1. We will be assigning RAs to projects based on availability rather than by department or center affiliations, as was done in the past. This means that many of you will be working with a different RA than you previously worked with and some of you may be working with different RAs on different proposals. Your most recent NOI (Notice Of Intent) email response will identify the RA assigned for that proposal. If you are ever in doubt as to who should be contacted for a particular proposal, please address your email to ORSPRA@utep.edu
2. Starting December 1, we are asking that ALL MATERIALS for proposal submission be submitted to ORSP at least ONE WEEK (five working days) BEFORE the submission deadline for that opportunity. This will allow us to ensure adequate time for review and processing, including the ability to correct submission errors and resubmit. For the next several weeks we plan to allow some flexibility with this requirement. If you have unexpected delays and need to submit some materials closer to the proposal due date, please notify your RA as far in advance as possible. Note, however, that proposals first provided to ORSP less than 24 hours in advance will not be submitted.
If you have question on these or any other ORSP processes, please contact Roberto Osegueda (osegueda@utep.edu) or Stephen Aley (saley@utep.edu) directly.
